Book Discussion: Angelica

Hello readers!
We would like to invite everyone to join us at the Norway Memorial Library on Saturday, March 28 at 2:00 pm, for the second installment in our “Revolutionary Books” discussion series! We’ll be discussing the book Angelica by Molly Beer, an engaging biography of socialite Angelica Schuyler Church.
Angelica is described in many historical narratives as Alexander Hamilton’s “saucy” sister-in-law, and is best known to modern audiences as a supporting character in the broadway sensation Hamilton. As you’ll learn from the book, the real Angelica was a thoroughly interesting and impressive historical figure. Smart, politically astute, well-read, and deeply connected on both sides of the Atlantic, Angelica moved through circles that included some of the most powerful figures of her time. Her transatlantic life, sharp wit, and intellectual partnerships reveal just how influential women could be—even when history tried to sideline them.
“Revolutionary Books” Discussion Series
This is the second in a series of five book discussions that will take place in libraries around western Maine this year. You can learn about the whole series here.
You do not need to have attended the previous discussion to attend this one, and please feel free to come and participate even if you aren’t able to read the book before the event.
